The Spalter Tor is a city gate in the center of Pleinfeld in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . It is one of three former gates next to the Veiter Tor and the Nürnberger Tor . Today only the Spalter Tor remains. The building is registered under the monument number D-5-77-161-5 as an architectural monument in the Bavarian monument list. The postal address of the inhabited building is Am Spalter Tor 1.

Pleinfeld was granted the right to fortify in 1486 by Emperor Friedrich . However, the city wall could only be built about 100 years later, as the Free Imperial City of Weißenburg and the Margraves of Ansbach were reluctant to do so. However, the nearby Sandsee Castle had a wall with a moat for a long time. Ultimately, the wall was built; the gate tower was built in 1548 or 1568, depending on the source. At the Spalter Tor there are still some remains of the city wall. The Spalter Tor was renovated to mark the 500th anniversary of the Pleinfeld market law . The gate is named after the street Am Spalter Tor that leads past it . The traffic always causes damage to the structure.

The building is a saddle roof construction made of sandstone with a basement and half-timbering on the upper floor. On the logo of the municipality of Pleinfeld, which was created for tourist purposes, the Spalter Tor is shown next to ships, a sun and the Großer Brombachsee .
