The Sparkasse Goslar / Harz was created on January 1st, 2002 through the merger of the Sparkasse des Landkreis Goslar (seat in Salzgitter-Bad) with the Stadtsparkasse Goslar (seat in Goslar) and the Kreissparkasse Clausthal-Zellerfeld (seat in Clausthal-Zellerfeld). In 2017 the Sparkasse merged with the Kreissparkasse Peine and the Sparkasse Hildesheim to form the Sparkasse Hildesheim Goslar Peine .
