Spike (band)
Spike was an American dance project that had several chart successes in Europe between 1998 and 2001 .
biography
The from New York coming DJ , producer and remixer Darrin Friedman made in 1998 from the rapper Barrelhouse JM and singer Pamela Mitchell named after his nickname Duo Spike. Florian Richter alias Judge Flow and Marc Lennard joined as songwriters , who in addition to Lafayette Karrington also took over the production .
With their first single Respect in 1998 they made the leap into various European charts . In Germany the song climbed to number 11 and was awarded gold , in Austria it climbed to number 6 and in Switzerland to number 10. With It Takes Two (Deeper Love) , which reached number 10 in Austria and Switzerland in May 1999 , this time even made it into the German top 10 with 8th place.
Spike - The Album was released in June of that year . The long player reached the top 10 in Germany (6th place) and Switzerland (7th place), but just missed them in Austria (12th place). In addition to the previous singles, the following Spike hits were also included on this album . In September 1999, Responsible only reached a middle position in Germany with place 52, the follow-up single So in Luv was here at the beginning of 2000 at place 51 and in Switzerland at place 59.
The songs Never Gonna Give You Up and A Moment of Love were the last, albeit small, chart successes of the project in 2001. The accompanying album was supposed to be called So Called Friends , but it wasn't finished. By 2005 two features appeared under the name Spike , in 2003 (I Wanna Give You) Devotion with Nomad and in 2005 Crazy for Your Love with Luniz . There were no other publications.
