economy
Spiken, which is several hundred years old as a fishing village, is one of the largest inland sea fishing ports in Europe. It is the home port for almost all professional fishermen in Lake Vänern. The main catches are whitefish , pike , pikeperch and perch (around 100 tons per year per fish species), but also salmon and others. The most important fish is but the whitefish , the exclusive due to their very popular in Sweden roe (löjrom) caught about 200 tons annually.
Spiken, which is only a few kilometers away from Läckö Castle , has also become a popular excursion destination in recent decades.
There is also a 10 hectare nature reserve on the northeast edge of the village.
