Spiros Focás

Spiros Focás , Σπύρος Φωκάς ; actually Xiros Andros (born August 17, 1937 in Patras ) is a Greek actor .

Life

Focás made his screen debut at the age of 22 and worked in the episode in which he established himself as a character actor in international films, mainly in Italy with directors such as Luchino Visconti and Vincente Minnelli , but also for numerous genre craftsmen such as Ferdinando Baldi or Gianfranco Mingozzi . As one of the few actors in his home country who was also able to achieve international success, he was busy in Hollywood with interpretations for On the Hunt for the Jewel of the Nile (1985) and Rambo III (1988).

After his first experiences in Greece, he was quickly committed to Italy, where he played two leading roles in a social drama by Franco Rossi and a Peplum by Vittorio Cottafavi in 1959 . Visconti then cast him for Rocco and his brothers , after which Focás constantly switched between demanding films and adventurous commercial entertainment such as the controversial Castigata - Die Gezüchtige . From the mid-1970s he was also a hard-working television actor.

A pseudonym of Focás' was Clyde Garner .
