The spur lots columbine ( Aquilegia ecalcarata ) is a plant of the genus Akeleien ( Aquilegia ). Some authors put it in the genus Semiaquilegia ( Semiaquilegia ecalcarata (Maxim.) Sprague & Hutch. )

The spurless Columbine is a perennial, herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 20 to 60, rarely up to 80 centimeters. The flowers are usually wine-red to purple, more rarely almost white and upright or less often nodding. The bracts are 10 to 14 millimeters long and 4 to 6 millimeters wide. The nectar leaves are almost aligned and almost as long as the bracts. The stamens are half as long as the nectar leaves. The staminodes are more or less pointed. The anthers are dark.
The flowering period extends from June to July.
Occurrence
The species occurs in central and east China. It grows in forests, bushes, grass corridors and on roadsides at altitudes of 1,800 to 3,500 meters.

The spurless Columbine is seldom used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens and wood edges. It has been in culture at least since 1915.
