The Sportwerk Hamburg is the largest squash facility in Hamburg .
history
The facility was built by Heinz Marquardt in 1980 with expansion in 1984 on a 5,684 m² building plot (urban land) in Hamburg-Stellingen for around DM 6.0 million in a massive, two-storey construction as the Marquardt Squash Center . The building has a usable area of 2,400 m², of which approx. 1,200 m² are used for the squash area, approx. 200 m² for the fitness area and approx. 500 m² for the catering / service and sanitary and technical areas. The sports facility has been managed and operated by Sportwerk GmbH since 2013. Center manager is the Dutch squash trainer Bart Wijnhoven. The facility was extensively renovated and rebuilt in 2014/2015.
In September 2016, the only permanent four-sided glass court in Germany was opened in the Sportwerk, which also meets international standards and is used in a mobile version on the professional tour .

The facility is located in the middle of an allotment garden colony . There are other sports facilities in the immediate vicinity: the ice stadium Stellingen (used as a cycling track in summer ), the Wolfgang Meyer sports facility with several soccer fields and the tennis facility of the Grün-Weiss Eimsbüttel club.
Clubs and company sports
The Sportwerk is the home facility for two sports clubs:
- Sportwerk Hamburg Walddörfer
- SC Nottensdorf
In addition, the Sportwerk is the base of the squash division for numerous company sports clubs : fire brigade , Airbus Stade , Sportwerk / Görtz, Airbus Hamburg, Haspa , Gruner + Jahr , Hamburg Wasser , Hamburg Commercial Bank , Schülke & Mayr , Deutsche Bank , Hanse Merkur , Commerzbank , Beiersdorf , Signal Iduna , Eurogate , Generali Insurance and Hapag-Lloyd .
Events
The sports facility is the venue for numerous national tournaments and matches for the men's 1st squash division . It is also a base for national youth training.
The German individual squash championships and the German Junior Open have been held at the Sportwerk since 2016 .
