Spring Mountain District AVA (recognized since May 13, 1993) is a wine-growing region in the US state of California and is part of the national Napa Valley AVA . The vineyards were often terraced on the slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains in the northwest of the Napa Valley near the towns of Calistoga , Rutherford and St. Helena .

The vineyards are at an altitude of 122 to 792 m above sea level. NN and thus significantly higher than the rest of the Napa Valley . The wine-growing region, officially recognized on May 13, 1993, is therefore not reached by the morning and evening cooling mists of the region, but benefits every evening from the cooling winds of the Bay of San Pablo .
