Searching for Traces - Detours to Truth (orig .: Around the Bend ) is an American feature film with road movie elements by Jordan Roberts from 2004 . With a wink of the eye, reports are made of three male generations of a family who are complying with the fourth generation's strange funeral request.
The impetus for the film came from Jordan Robert's relationship with his absent father, whom he had barely known himself.
action
The film reunites Turner with his family, whom he had left thirty years earlier. Today this consists of his father Henry, his son Jason and his seven year old son Zach. So Henry is Zach's great grandfather.
After a car accident thirty years earlier in which Jason's mother had died and Jason himself apparently sustained permanent injuries, Turner had left his family and left the son to his grandfather's care. There was no real contact. While the relationship between the remaining family members - all men - appears to be very loving and caring, at least Jason meets the unexpectedly emerging father with noticeable reluctance. Only through the funeral and mourning ceremony after Henry's death, to which Jason and Turner are more forced than voluntary, do the three remaining people find each other emotionally.
The theme of death plays a special role in this film, insofar as Henry already reflected extensively on his approaching end and the dignified framework before his own death. In a "deleted scene", he expressly points out to his great-grandson that the end is nothing to be afraid of in this family. Rather, the end is part of the natural course of things.
