Square Up is the first EP from the South Korean girl group Blackpink . Square Up was released on June 15, 2018 together with the single Ddu-du Ddu-du . The album and the single made it to number on the respective South Korean charts. Square Up also entered the US Billboard 200 chart at number 40, which was the highest ranking for a Korean girl group at the time.

In March 2018, YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun-suk first announced new music from Blackpink via Instagram. He named May as the likely month of publication, but without setting a specific date. On May 17, Yang Hyun-suk officially confirmed June for the comeback via Instagram in response to requests from fans . A week later it was announced that the new mini-album should be released on June 15th.

From June 1st on, teaser videos, photos and the album's track list were published almost daily, from which it could be seen that the album should be called Square Up and the single Ddu-du Ddu-du .

On June 15, Square Up was released along with the single Ddu-du Ddu-du.
