The World Federation for Chess Composition ( WFCC ; until 2010 Permanent Commission for Chess Composition at FIDE , officially English: Permanent Commission of the FIDE for Chess Compositions ; PCCC ) is the umbrella organization of FIDE for chess composition .

The organization consists of 39 countries, each of which has appointed a delegate as a commissioner (as of August 6, 2003). The organizational head of the WFCC is the president, who is assisted by an advisor and three vice-presidents. Corresponding elections take place every four years.

Previous presidents were Gyula Neukomm (1956–1958), Nenad Petrović (1958–1964), Comins Mansfield (1964–1972), Gerhard Jensch (1972–1974), Jan Hannelius (1974–1986), Klaus Wenda (1986–1994) , Bedrich Formánek (1994–2002), John Rice (2002–2006), Uri Avner (2006–2010) and Harry Fougiaxis (since 2010).

Presidents whose term of office has ended can be appointed Honorary Presidents . Honorary Presidents are Bedrich Formánek (Slovakia), John Rice (Great Britain), Klaus Wenda (Austria) and the late Jan Hannelius (Finland).

The tasks of the WFCC include assigning titles to chess composers based on the tasks in the FIDE albums, which are also managed by the WFCC. The titles for solver and international chess composition judge are also awarded by the WFCC. The WFCC also sets the rules for chess composition, the code .

Other tasks of the WFCC are the promotion of chess composition, the organization of composition and solving championships and the publication of collections of general interest, which also include the FIDE albums.

history

The Permanent Commission of the FIDE for Chess Compositions was founded in 1956 by Nenad Petrović , among others , who also had the idea of ​​the FIDE albums in 1958. Since its foundation, a meeting of chess composers, the World Congress of Chess Composition (WCCC; in German: World Congress of Chess Composition ) has taken place every year. In 2010 it was renamed the World Federation for Chess Composition .
