Standing conference on disaster risk reduction and civil protection

The Permanent Conference on Disaster Reduction and Civil Protection (SKK) , formerly Standing Conference on Disaster Reduction and Emergency (SKK) was, from 1989 to January 2011, a union of all in Germany in civil protection , civil and civil protection organizations involved, institutions and associations. The cooperation between those involved will be continued in other hazard prevention committees.

Goal setting

The aim of the SKK was to continuously improve and develop disaster risk management and civil protection in Germany.

As an open and integrative body, the SKK promoted the exchange of views between all those involved in disaster risk reduction and civil protection, thus promoting standardization and harmonization in these areas.

With the help of all those involved, the SKK worked to design the structures in disaster risk management and civil protection in such a way that a constant process of improvement and further development was promoted.

Chair

On April 1, 2008, Karsten Ocker was elected chairman by the sponsoring group . He held the chairmanship until the end of the SKK.

Managing directors

The management had been taken over by the ASB Federal Association. The sponsoring group had transferred this to the ASB in April 2007 under the direction of the managing director Harald Schottner.

Other contributors to the Standing Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction and Civil Protection, as well as participants such as individuals, organizations and institutions that are active in the field of disaster risk reduction and civil protection nationwide in line with the goals of the SKK, were occasionally invited by the sponsoring group. A few experts also received assignments at the suggestion of the conference.
