Stéphane Canet (born June 7, 1971 in Hyères ) is a former French beach volleyball player .

Career

Canet played the 1996 world series with Ivan Douenel . In 1997 he formed a new duo with his long-time partner Mathieu Hamel . At the World Cup in Los Angeles , the French did not get past last place. Two years later they reached 13th place in front of their own audience in Marseille . Then they finished fifth at the European Championships in Palma . At the EM 2000 they defeated the Dieckmann brothers in the first game before they failed to the Norwegians Høidalen / Kjemperud and the Poles Bachorski / Bulkowski . After the end in the first main round of the 2001 World Cup against the Austrians Berger / Stamm , there were two defeats against the German Dieckmann / Slacanin and the Norwegians Horrem / Maaseide at the following EM .

After 13th place in Basel in 2002 , Canet / Hamel reached the round of 16 against the Russians Arkajew / Barsuk in Alanya in 2003 . In October they had no win at the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro . At the 2004 European Championships they repeated their result of the previous year by beating the German duo Ahmann / Hager 2-0 . In the preliminary round of the Olympic tournament in Athens , she was able to defeat Dieckmann / Scheuerpflug in three sets, but was eliminated from the bottom of the group.

The French finished last at the 2005 World Cup in Berlin and were eliminated early at the European Championships in Moscow . At the end of the year, Canet played with Grégory Gagliano before returning with Hamel in 2007. In 2008 he completed a few tournaments with Grégory Brachard .
