St-Cyr (Lançon)
The Saint-Cyr Catholic Chapel in Lançon , a French commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region , was built in the 11th century. The chapel at the foot of the fortified place has been a protected cultural monument ( Monument historique ) since 1926 .
history
The chapel , the holy Cyriacus ordained , is in the middle of the former cemetery.
architecture
The small chapel is made of stone and the gable roof is covered with stone slabs, as is the semicircular choir . The chapel with only one nave consisting of three bays is closed by a barrel vault . The two barrel-vaulted side chapels give the impression of a transept . The portal of the chapel is located on the south facade between the south side chapel and a mighty buttress . On the roof sits an open bell tower with a bell.
