St-Georges (Fiquefleur)
The Roman Catholic Church of St-Georges in Fiquefleur-Équainville , a French parish in the Eure department in the Normandy region , was built in the 11th century. The Romanesque church on the road to Honfleur has been a protected architectural monument ( Monument historique ) since 1992 .
description
The church, consecrated to St. George , underwent major changes in the 17th century when the road that passed by was expanded. The west facade was destroyed and the central nave was shortened by three bays . A transept adjoins the nave and then an almost square choir with a flat end. A low tower rises above the crossing , which consists only of a pyramid-shaped roof. During the frequent renovations, the aisles were also removed and the height of the tower changed.
