history

The Saint-Pierre church, consecrated to the Apostle Peter , was originally built as a priory church by Augustinian canons who joined forces with Antonites in the 13th century . During the wars of religion the convent buildings were destroyed, only the church remained.

architecture

On the west facade of the church is the portal , which is framed by two slender half-columns on the sides. Over this is a narrow canopy supported by corbels . A Greek cross is depicted on the arched field , framed by ornate archivolts . Above the portal, the facade is broken up by a large arched window and above it by an oculus .

In the east, the nave with three semicircular apses adjoins the nave . The central apse is significantly larger than the two on the side. It is structured by three archivolt windows and is supported by two massive buttresses . The side apses have a simple arched window. A profiled cornice over carved corbels runs under the roof approach . The eastern gable wall is pierced by three openings, the middle of which is in the shape of a cross.

The convent buildings were formerly attached to the north side, which has been proven by excavations.
