St. Alban in Döllwang

The St. Alban's Church in the Döllwang district in Deining near Neumarkt in Upper Palatinate looks back on a previous building that was more than 900 years old. The church belongs to the deanery Neumarkt in the diocese of Eichstätt .

history

The first mention of a sacred building dates back to 1074, this building was consecrated by Bishop Gundekar II of Eichstätt, who left a list of over 100 churches consecrated by him on his death in 1075. Why this first building was not preserved cannot be found in the other chronicles.

In 1331 the foundation stone for the Church of St. Alban was laid again in Döllwang . In 1628 the places Wangen and Greißelbach were incorporated into Döllwang. In 1696 the church tower collapsed when the church was expanded and buried the sacristy and the choir .

A year later, the nave and half the tower were rebuilt in the baroque style . In 1704 the Dietfurt painter Franz Widtmann made the altarpieces for St. Alban. The church was restored around 1851. The first bell was mentioned in 1911. The bells for this were cast by the Hamm company from Regensburg . In 1912 the church was raised 1.70 m to the west. In 1914 she received an organ for 4,310 marks which was manufactured by the Bittner company in Eichstätt . In 1927 new church bells were purchased for the church, but they were melted down during World War II . In 1963 the church was renovated inside and out. A year later, Friedrich Wilhelm Schilling cast four new bells for the church. Their disposition is g 1 –b 1 –c 2 –d 2 ( normal quartet , G minor). The g 1 bell weighs 904 kg, the b 1 bell 520 kg, the c 2 bell 374 kg and the d 2 bell 258 kg. In 2002 the full bell in the BR 1 was broadcast on the every Sunday broadcast Zwölfuhrluten . The church tower received a new copper roof in 1977.
