St Servatius Church

The St. Servatius Church in Kirchveischede in the Olpe district is a Catholic parish church that dates back to the 13th century.

The parish church from the early Gothic period consists of a single-nave hall. In 1908, in agreement with the state curator , the building contractor Wilhelm Sunder-Plassmann from Förde (today Grevenbrück ) added an extension to the north. There hangs a baroque painting depicting the Sacrifice of Mary . The entrance to the church is on the west side of the extension. The church tower adjoins the nave to the west and is used during the church service.

The patron saint is St. Servatius , who is depicted on a church window. The old baroque pulpit was created around 1700 in the Attendorn sculptor's workshop in Sasse ; it was thoroughly restored in 1990/92. The wall tabernacle contains a wrought iron door. The organ dates from around 1758 and is the work of Ignatz Seuffert . On the outside of the organ stage there are a total of 16 pictures from the time of its creation, depicting Jesus and Mary in the middle. You are surrounded by images of the apostles Peter and Paul as well as other apostles and evangelists . Below the organ stage there are two grave slabs whose inscriptions are no longer legible.

In the early Gothic (old) choir there is a Pietà , which was created by the sculptor Matthias Beule . Beule had a studio in neighboring Olpe from 1906 to 1909 and later became known for his work in new church buildings in Upper Silesia .
