The St. George's Church

The St. George's Church is an Evangelical Lutheran church in Bergen in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . The building is registered under the monument number D-5-77-115-3 as a monument in the Bavarian monument list. The address is Dannhausener Straße 8; The responsible parish office is in the immediate vicinity. The medieval predecessor buildings are also registered as ground monuments (number D-5-6932-0342). The parish of St. Georg belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran deanery in Weißenburg in Bavaria .

In 1771 the church tower of the previous building, which was built around 1200, collapsed . The new building of the nave and the increase of the remaining floors of the tower of the predecessor with a polygonal upper floor and a pointed helmet took place in 1773. The choir tower church has a modern vestibule . The organ prospectus of the previous church from 1732 has been preserved. In addition to several galleries, there is a wooden crucifix inside the church from around 1730. The baptismal font with the motif of the Annunciation is a Nuremberg work and dates from the 16th century.
