St. Georg (Löhndorf)
The Catholic Church of St. Georg in Löhndorf , a district of Sinzig in the Ahrweiler district ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), was built between 1829 and 1833.
history
The parish church in Löhndorf, St. Dedicated to Georg , was built from 1829 to 1833 according to plans by the Koblenz architect Ferdinand Nebel .
The parish of Löhndorf emerged from the knight seat Vehn . The predecessor of today's church, a 1668 also dedicated to St. Georg, the chapel , became dilapidated , which is why from 1820 the services were held in the now defunct ossuary on the cemetery.
The new church, inaugurated on November 10, 1833, a three- aisled hall church made of local quarry slate , is plastered in the interior and the facade is grouted. It has neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque style elements. At the same time as the church was built, a rectory was built next to it . In 1871 an organ from the Krämer company was installed.
The cemetery, which was initially around the church, was rebuilt in 1858 on the eastern outskirts.
