St. Georg (Günterode)
The Roman Catholic village church Günterode is located in the rural Günterode district of the Heilbad Heiligenstadt in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia .
history
The village church was consecrated in 1735 in the name of St. George . The church tower and today's nave were built in 1713. In 1892 the choir was added.
In 1955 the consecration of the three bells took place. They were the replacement for two bells that were melted down for armaments purposes during the Second World War .
A war memorial for the victims of the First World War on the former stairs to the church was removed in 1979 as part of road construction work.
Interior
A late Gothic carved altar from the monastery church in Reifenstein was installed in 1805.
With the addition of the sacristy in 2000, the church received its present appearance.
organ
The originally preserved organ by Louis Krell , Opus 146, was consecrated in 1904 and completely renovated in 2009 by Johannes Motz Orgelbau. It has 18 registers , divided into main work, upper work and pedal and has the following disposition :
