St. George

The Catholic parish church of St. Georg is a listed church building in Oberntudorf , a district of Salzkotten in the Paderborn district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

The original church from the beginning of the 13th century was a single-nave vaulted building with a slightly indented, square choir . The west tower also dates from this period. The restoration of the building is stated on an inscription plaque for 1663. An extension to the south was made in 1936 and 1937 by Josef Lucas . The north portal is probably composed of fragments. A straight lintel shows Christ and the apostles as a rough Romanesque relief . The corbels are two reclining lions with human figures between their paws. There are two similar animal reliefs on the east side of the choir.
