St. George is a settlement in Alaska , north of the Aleutian Islands in the Bering Sea . It is located on the northeast shore of the island of St. George , the southernmost of the four islands in the group of the Pribilof Islands .

Population and economy

The island can be reached by boat or air from Anchorage . Around 165 to 200 people live on the island. About 96% are residents of the Aleutian Islands. The main industry is fishing. Mostly halibut and king crabs are caught. The settlement has a deep sea port, a fish processing plant, a hotel and a Russian Orthodox church.
