history

The church is slightly elevated on the western edge of the village. It was built in 1211 and has been rebuilt several times since then. The north and south walls of the Romanesque choir with small arched windows on the south side and the semicircular apse plinth as the base of the east polygon have been preserved.

In 1802 the choir tower was raised by a half-timbered storey and finished off with a curved hood with a large, octagonal lantern for the bell. The pulpit altar also dates from this period, and with its high front and the pairs of columns and pilasters still has baroque reminiscences.

In 1842, the simple nave was renewed and illuminated by simple rectangular windows. Inside it received a three-sided, two-storey gallery and a wooden barrel above the central room. The classicist organ front dates from 1843.

From 1982 to 1984 the interior was renovated. In 2015 the church roof was renewed and a support association was founded. Since 2016, the church is the venue of the project "Summer Concerts in Erfurt village churches" of the Chamber Music Society of Erfurt .
