The Catholic branch church St. Johann in Sankt Johannisrain , a district of Penzberg in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau , was essentially built in the Gothic period. The church, located in the middle of meadows south of Penzberg, is a protected monument .

history

The church belonged to Schlehdorf Monastery until secularization in 1803 . Today St. Johann is a branch church of the Catholic parish of Sindelsdorf .

description

The small hall building with a slightly drawn-in polygonal choir has a northern choir flank tower and a small sign . The baroque style and the tower octagon with onion dome by Joseph Hainz date from around 1715/17 and 1733/35. The paintings and frescoes inside were also created at this time.

Bertin Butz and the family Sonner received in 2012 the monument medal of Bavaria for their use in the exemplary renovation of the monument.
