St. Johannes Evangelist in Sirzenich

St. John the Evangelist is the Roman Catholic branch church of the Sirzenich district of the Trierweiler parish in the Trier-Saarburg district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

history

A church in Sirzenich was mentioned for the first time in 1227. Parts of the bell tower of the current church probably come from this first church. Before 1436, however, the church was demolished in addition to the tower and replaced by a Gothic church built in 1436 . The choir has been preserved from this second church . The current longship was built in 1681. In 1973 the small church was expanded significantly. The old church interior was used as a sacristyconverted and the worship room relocated to the new building. At the beginning of 2013, the church expansion from 1973 was canceled after the profanation in November 2012 and the church was subsequently restored or refurbished in its original design.

Furnishing

In the church there is a late Gothic sacrament house and a baptismal font from 1784.
