The Roman Catholic village church of St. John the Baptist is in the rural town of Dingelstädt in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia .

history

This church was built in 1686. At the main entrance to the nave , this year is also carved into a brick. The predecessor was only half the size and a reference to the first mention is still missing. A transept and a choir were added to the current church in 1919 and 1920 . The auxiliary bishop from Paderborn inaugurated this building on September 29, 1920.

The inside of the church

The Johannis bowl is located in the upper part of the altar . The altarpiece shows the crucified. The room is decorated with the most important saints. The altar table is simple. The side altars are decorated with statues of the Mother of God and Joseph .

In the south transept is the confessional with a baroque figure and the baptismal font . St. Elisabeth stands in the choir above the sacristy . It dates from around 1490 to 1500. The nave with holy figures is illustrated on the walls with wooden panels of the Way of the Cross . The Kreuzweg work was created in 1935 by Willi Wolf from Würzburg . The church windows are provided with Christian key scenes.

The organ gallery is located in the western part . The organ was installed around 1900 . It was rebuilt in 1950 and 1953 by the company Helfenbein from Gotha and expanded with registers . In 1998 the old organ was replaced by the organ from the mountain monastery in Heilbad Heiligenstadt . Only the old organ case has remained.

The church has four bells . Their labels can be found in the literature given.

Over the decades, the church has been renovated, repaired, redesigned and also plastered.
