St. Johannis (Altenmuhr)
The St. Johannis Church is an Evangelical Lutheran church in Altenmuhr , a district of Muhr am See in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Central Franconia . The church , consecrated to John the Baptist , belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Dean's Office in Gunzenhausen and is registered as an architectural monument in the Bavarian list of monuments under monument number D-5-77-114-21 . The underground parts of the church are also designated as a ground monument. The postal address is Kirchenstraße 29.
The church is located in the town center at a height of 416 meters above sea level south of the castle and near the former Mittelmuhr . The core of the choir tower church , which dates back to the 13th century, was expanded in 1467 and rebuilt in 1723 and given a Baroque style . The tower has been crowned with an onion dome since 1798 . The churchyard wall dates from the 17th to 19th centuries, the archway on the south side of the area from the 17th century. An interior renovation with replacement of the old windows was carried out between 1908 and 1910; At the end of the 20th century the church was renovated inside and out.
