St. Johannis

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Johannis is located in Markersdorf , a district of Hundhaupten in the Greiz district in Thuringia . St. Johannis belongs to the parish Markersdorf-Hundhaupten of the parish area Münchenbernsdorf in the parish of Gera of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

In 1755 the plastered hall church was built using older components. It has a recessed square church tower in the east and a polygonal end in the west. The nave is covered with a gable roof. The tower has a curved hood , on it sits a closed lantern , crowned with a tower ball . The nave has three-sided galleries and is covered with a flat ceiling, the coves of which are decorated with stucco . The boxes in the tower are now walled up. The church features apart from the pulpit altar simple. The organ built by August Peternell in 1861 is located in a neo-Gothic prospect on the west gallery. It has eight registers , divided into a manual and a pedal .
