St. Josef (Saarlouis)
St. Josef is a Roman Catholic church in Saarlouis - Fraulautern on the Kreuzberg , the Fraulauterner settlement .
history
After the village of Fraulautern grew significantly after the Second World War , its own pastoral care center was established on August 24, 1957 on the Fraulautern settlement, the Kreuzberg . On January 1, 1961, the pastoral care office was elevated to a parish . The emergency church was regularly so overcrowded at this time that some parishioners had to celebrate the service outside.
The construction of a new church was approved by the Trier diocese in November 1959 . The groundbreaking ceremony took place on August 15, 1960, and the new church was consecrated in the name of St. Joseph on May 1, 1963 . The architect of the St. Josefs Church was Toni Laub from Saarwellingen .
building
The church is about 20 meters high and can be reached via a few steps and a path from the rectory . While the actual building is about 20 meters from the street, the 35-meter high church tower with the showcase is right on the street.
The interior of the church has a wooden ceiling. On the wall above the altar there is a large image of Jesus Christ on the cross, whose lips are shaped into a you .
The nave runs through a series of colorful church windows, which are at the top of the walls on the left and right. A confessional is integrated into each of these two walls .
organ
In 1982 the organ of the church was built by the Saarland company Hugo Mayer Orgelbau . The instrument is located slightly offset on the gallery, has a total of 16 registers , three normal couplers and playing aids, two manuals and a pedal .
