St. Josef is a Catholic , listed branch church in Ramsberg am Brombachsee in the Bavarian town of Markt Pleinfeld in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . The church has the address Obere Dorfstrasse 32 and belongs to the parish of St. Vitus in the Pleinfeld district of Sankt Veit .

It is the successor to the small Josefs Chapel from 1723, which was demolished in 1836. After that, the place with its 300 Catholic inhabitants had no place of worship for decades. With the help of donations from all Catholic communities in Central Franconia and donations in kind, the new historicizing neo-Romanesque church was built in the years 1887 to 1888 according to plans by the district architect Gutmann from Weißenburg and inaugurated on August 19, 1888.

The church interior consists of a three-axis nave with arched windows and a retracted choir closed on three sides. It contains a two-column late Rococo altar from around 1766, a gift from the former municipality of Wasserzell . The altarpiece comes from the Eichstätter court painter Johann Michael Franz , but has been over-painted; it shows, among other things, the stoning of St. Stephen . The figure of Mary with baby Jesus on the left on the front wall of the nave was probably created in Nuremberg around 1480. The figure on the right on the front wall shows the church patron; underneath there is a colored relief of the Holy Family . A panel painting of the Madonna in a protective cloak in a version from 1716 comes from the former Öfeleinsmühle and came to the church in 1960. The entrance gate of the church tower , which is crowned by a small pointed dome, is on the north facade.
