history

Wildflecken belonged to Oberbach as a branch and initially had no church of its own. Since the Oberbach church was quite small, permission was finally granted to build a chapel in Wildflecken in 1716. The chapel was built by the Wall Johann and Valtin Abert and consecrated in 1717. The pastoral care continued to be taken over by the parish of Oberbach. Efforts to find a local pastor were unsuccessful. Between 1928 and 1929 the architect Ludwig Sator from Mannheim expanded the church. In 1930, the Würzburg bishop Matthias Ehrenfried inaugurated the enlarged church. The establishment of the Wildflecken military training area increased the population. That is why Wildflecken was raised to an independent parish in 1951. In 1998 the roof of the church was renewed and in 2000 the interior of the church was renovated.
