St. Juliana

The Evangelical Lutheran , listed church St. Juliana is located in Osterode , a district of Harztor in the Nordhausen district in Thuringia . The parish Osterode belongs to the parish area Ilfeld in Kirchenkreis Südharz the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The simple hall church is built from partially plastered rubble stones . In the square choir tower there are still parts of a fortified church from the beginning of the 13th century. The nave was added to it in 1759 instead of the earlier smaller chapel . The tower was covered with a transverse hipped roof. Below the hip is the half-timbered wall . In the interior there is an altarpiece from 1697 with parts of a carved Gothic winged altar with depictions of an image of Mary and four saints. The octagonal baptismal font comes from the Romanesque period.
