The Kommende Brackel , today St. Klemens Kommende Dortmund, is a former branch of the German Order of Knights in Dortmund .

The coming of the knight order were founded in the 12th century and were organized in Germany in twelve balleien . The Coming Brackel was part of the Westphalian Ballei . The Kommende Brackel and the associated patron church St. Johannes-Kapelle form the historical core of the Dortmund district Brackel .

After Napoleon's dissolution of the Teutonic Knight Order in 1809, it fell to the Grand Duke von Berg and in 1815 to Prussia.

In 1946 the Kommende was donated to the Archdiocese of Paderborn , which set up the Kommende Dortmund social institute here in 1949 . The building is registered as a monument in the list of monuments of the city of Dortmund .
