St. Lambertus (Appeldorn)
The Catholic parish church of St. Lambertus is a listed church building in Appeldorn , a district of Kalkar in the Kleve district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).
History and architecture
The church was first mentioned in the 12th century and documented as a parish church in 1307. The previous church was a three-aisled pseudo - basilica from the end of the 15th century. It was extended by two bays to the west in 1892 and the tower was rebuilt. It was blown up in 1945 when the German troops withdrew and destroyed except for the surrounding walls and the choir. In 1949 it was rebuilt as a hall church .
The hexagonal central building with a tent roof was completed in 1972 according to plans by H. Balke and B. Kösters while maintaining the old building fabric. The eastern nave yoke, the choir with sacrament niche and the piscina , as well as the two-storey sacristy from the late 19th century have been preserved from the old church .
Furnishing
- Remains of an Antwerp carved retable from around 1520 to 1540
- The setting has been removed from the mid-15th century Madonna from the circle of Arnt Beeldesnider
- Anna herself third from the end of the 15th or beginning of the 16th century with a new version
- A Vesper picture from the first half of the 16th century without a frame
organ
The organ was built in 1981 by the organ builder Simon (Borgentreich). The slider chest instrument has 23 registers on two manuals and a pedal . The game actions are mechanical, the stop actions are electric.
