The Catholic parish church of St. Lawrence is in the district Odenkirchen in Mönchengladbach ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ), Laurentiusplatz 9th

The neo-Romanesque church was built from 1889 to 1891. It was entered under no. L 033 on September 17, 1991 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .

On June 26th, 2017 the “Friends of St. Laurentius Odenkirchen” was founded, whose purpose is, among other things, to support the preservation of the parish church of St. Laurentius in Odenkirchen.

location

The property is located to the southwest of the streets Burg Freiheit and von der Helm-Straße, which flow into Laurentiusplatz, in the immediate vicinity of the center of Odenkirchen on a corner lot.

architecture

It is a three-aisled, westerly basilica with a transept. To the east of the two- bay nave stands the high east tower, closed off by a steep rhombic roof. A semicircular end of the choir is flanked by a slender tower over a square floor plan with a sacristy each .

Furnishing

The organ was built by the organ builder Rensch (Lauffen / Neckar). The slider chests -instrument has 40 registers on three manuals and pedal . The playing and stop actions are mechanical.
