St. Mary's Visitation (Bevergern)
The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Mary's Visitation is a listed church building in Bevergern, a district of Hörstel in the Steinfurt district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
history
The original building was a chapel , first mentioned in 1367. It was under the patronage of the Gravenhorst monastery . At the beginning of the 16th century the church received parish rights .
architecture
The late Gothic , single-nave vaulted structure with three bays was built around 1483. It is equipped with a polygonal choir. The chapel extensions on the sides of the tower were added in 1759 and 1767. The south aisle was built in 1937. The upper storeys of the tower were renewed in 1686–99 with stones from the broken castle and in 1767 given today's curved pointed helmet.
Furnishing
- High altar from 1655, with the coat of arms of the founder Christoph Bernhard von Galen
- Carved pulpit from 1727 with the figures of the four evangelists , the church fathers and a Madonna can be seen on the sound cover
- Seated Mother of God made of wood from the end of the 14th century with a later modern version
- Vespers from 1440 made of stone
- Hanging double figure of Our Lady of the 16th century
- Anna herself third from the 16th century in a rosary with angels and Arma Christi from the workshop of the master from Osnabrück
- Figures of Anthony the Abbot and St. Roch from the beginning of the 16th century.
- Pietà from the beginning of the 18th century
- Painting depicting the awakening of Lazarus , Bevergern Castle can be seen in the background.
