The Catholic branch church St. Martin in Steinebach am Wörthsee , a district of the municipality of Wörthsee in the Upper Bavarian district of Starnberg , is a church built in the Baroque style. She is the St. Consecrated to Martin of Tours .

architecture

On the north side of the nave rises the bell tower with a gable roof from the middle of the 16th century. The ground floor of the tower, in which the sacristy is arranged, is covered by a groin vault.

The single-nave nave opens into a three-sided closed choir , to which a wide, pointed arched choir arch opens.

The nave spans a flat needle cap barrel , which is decorated with frescoes . The large ceiling fresco depicts the Trinity and the Death of St. Martins. The stitch caps have emblematic representations with Latin inscriptions. One scene shows St. Martin on horseback sharing his cloak with a beggar. The frescoes were heavily reworked in 1738 by Johann Georg Sang.

Furnishing

The altars , the pulpit and the gallery date from the 17th century.

  • The main altarpiece from 1786 depicts St. Martin. The carved figures on the side are dated around 1735. On the left is St. Stephanus can be recognized, the figure on the right is probably a duke named Sigismund.
  • The Madonna and Child on the north side altar was created around 1420. The relief on the predella represents the martyrdom of the Apostle Bartholomew .
  • The figure of St. Elisabeth above the door to the sacristy dates from the late 17th century.
  • A confessional from the early 18th century is built into the choir .
