St. Nikolaus (Dankerath)
The Catholic branch church St. Nikolaus in Dankerath , a local parish in the Ahrweiler district ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), was built in 1912. The church on the corner of Hauptstrasse and Postweg is a protected cultural monument .
history
Even before 1683, Dankerath gave him a chapel , which was also dedicated to St. Nicholas was consecrated . As it had become dilapidated , the subsidiary church of St. Nicholas was built in 1912 and was consecrated on December 9, 1913.
description
The church has three arched windows on each eaves side , which were given simple leaded glass windows in 1989 . A three-sided choir closes the church in the east. On the gable roof with a crooked hip sits a rectangular ridge turret with a hood , which is crowned by a cross on the top.
Furnishing
The 20th century altar , made by a master carpenter from Kerpen , has seven statues. In the middle Jesus , flanked by St. Nicholas, the Mother of God , St. Joseph , St. Francis of Assisi , St. Therese of Lisieux and St. Elisabeth of Thuringia .
