The Rohrberg Church

The Roman Catholic village church of St. Pankratius is located in the municipality of Rohrberg in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia .

history

There was also a church in the village, probably from the 16th century. The new church was built in 1730 on the site of its predecessor. The consecration took place on October 11, 1735 by the auxiliary bishop Christoph Ignatius von Gudenus from Erfurt . In 1896 the sacristy was added . On August 11, 1897, the auxiliary bishop August Gockel from Paderborn consecrated the altar .

architecture

The church , a three-axis hall building with a three-sided choir , has uniform round-arched windows. On the west side of the gable roof is the large roof tower with a tail hood and an open lantern . The main entrance consists of exposed framework and is marked with the dates 1730 and 1916.

On the west wall of the aisle there is a cube capital from the 12th century that was most likely walled up in 1916 . One suspects that it came here from Uder .

The wooden ceiling in the hall is flat. The house has profiled cornices and a gallery .

The side aisle, added in 1916, is connected to the main nave through arched arcades .
