St. Peter in Altisreid

The Roman Catholic subsidiary church St. Peter is located in Altisried , a district of Markt Rettenbach in the Unterallgäu district ( Bavaria ). The church is a listed building .

history

The core of the existing church building dates from the 15th century. In the 18th century, the church was repaired under Abbot Anselm Erb of the Ottobeuren monastery . The floor plan and the estimate were made by Simpert Kraemer in 1741/43. The sign as well as the shape of the roof and the furnishings probably come from this time .

Building description

Wooden cross on the south facade of the nave

The nave of the church consists of four window axes. The choir of the church with a 3/8 end consists of two window axes and connects to the nave with a round choir arch. Both the nave and the choir have a flat ceiling . There is a gallery inside on the west side of the church . There is a arched portal under the gallery. The church tower is built in the northern choir corner. This is unarticulated and with a gable roof covered. On the upper floor there are acoustic arcades on three sides . The sacristy is located in the basement . In this there is a slightly pointed arched groin vault . The plastered church tower was built from a mixture of bricks and gravel. A square sign with a hipped roof is on the west side of the church. The arched entrance is in the sign.

Furnishing

The high altar is made of marbled wood with gilded decoration. The tabernacle was created around 1700 . This is designed in the form of an aedicle with free columns and segmented gable. Next to the tabernacle there are niches with the wooden figures of Abraham and Melchizedek . These are also flanked by free pillars. The altar structure from the mid-18th century is concave. This contains an altar sheet with the representation of Our Lady and the fourteen helpers in need . The altar structure is flanked by diagonally placed free columns in front of pilasters. To the right and left of it are the figures of the apostles Peter and Paul on consoles . In the altar extract, the eye of God is attached in the glory of rays.

The two side altars, like the high altar, are made of marbled wood with gilded decoration. The side altars with simple canteens date from the middle of the 18th century. The altar leaves show St. Antonius and on the right the depiction of the Innsbruck Maria-Hilf picture. The top of the side altars is curved and surrounded by figures of angels. The angel figures on the right side altar date from the end of the 15th century. The pulpit dates from the middle of the 18th century and is also made of marbled wood. The pulpit cage is convex with a strong base cornice.

The ceiling painting is modern. The coat of arms of Abbot Anselm Erb above the choir arch dates from the period of repair. In the church there is also a wooden crucifix from around 1600. The simple, white painted choir stool dates from the 18th century.
