The Church of St. Petri is the Protestant church in the village of Eimersleben in Saxony-Anhalt , which belongs to the municipality Ingersleben .

Architecture and history

The church goes back to the Romanesque period . The church tower , built on a square floor plan, dates back to the 12th century. However, it originally served as a watch tower . Between 1715 and 1739 it was increased. During this time he also received his tail cap with lantern and the clocks dormer . The current nave was built between 1712 and 1715 in the Baroque style by Matthias List and Nikolaus Völker as a plastered, symmetrically structured pillar hall. According to inscriptions on the southern entrance and on the back of the altar wall, the ship was built under Friedrich Wilhelm von Alvensleben and his wife Friederike Elisabeth von Bismarck . Above the north entrance is an alliance coat of arms from 1673 of the von Alvensleben and von Bülow families . The coat of arms may come from Eimersleben Castle, which burned down in 1692.

To the east of the nave is a recessed choir built on a rectangular floor plan, which dates back to the late Gothic period at the beginning of the 15th century.

Interior design

While the aisles are spanned by a flat ceiling, the central nave is covered by a vault broken on three sides and resting on pillars.

In the church there is a 1874 by Carl Hooper from Magdeburg in Rundbogenstil created organ . The font, made of spotted marble in the style of late classicism , was created around 1880 .
