St. Severinus

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Severinus is in Mittelhausen , a district of the city of Erfurt in Thuringia . The parish Mittelhausen is part of the parish area Riethnordhausen in Kirchenkreis Apolda Buttstaedt the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

In the 12th century there was already a first previous church and a second in the 14th century. The current church was built in 1504 and rebuilt in the 18th century. In 1994 the church was renovated.

description

The hall church has a three-sided end of the choir . In the northeast corner of the nave sideways standing bell tower has been taken over by the predecessor of the 14th century. The groin -vaulted tower on the ground floor has a curved slate-roofed dome on which an open lantern sits. The nave has two-storey galleries all around . A pulpit altar dates from the middle of the 18th century. The organ with 17 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal , was built in 1896 by Friedrich Wilhelm Böttcher.
