St. Stephan (Hohenzell)

The Catholic parish church of St. Stephan in Hohenzell , a district of the Altomünster community in the Upper Bavarian district of Dachau , was originally built in the Middle Ages . The church on Pfarrer-Marz-Weg is a protected architectural monument .

architecture

The hall with a retracted choir closed on five sides has a tower with an octagon and an onion dome in the northern corner . The choir dates from the 15th century. The nave was renewed in 1926 and the 28 meter high tower was built in 1927. The design of the new building comes from the Munich architect Joseph Elsner junior .

Leaded glass window

The lead glass windows were made by the Georg Schneider court glass painting company from Regensburg. Two windows in the chancel show St. Joseph with the baby Jesus and a lily in his hand and St. Anne with her daughter Maria in her arms.

Furnishing

The equipment with three altars comes from the baroque period . The Munich painters Oswald Völkel and W. Lessig created the ceiling paintings .
