history

Hohenzell was first mentioned in 1260 as "Hochencella". It is believed, however, that it was one of the twelve "Zell" places that were laid out from Altomünster between the 8th and 10th centuries.

Originally, Hohenzell, which belongs to the diocese of Augsburg , formed its own parish , to which Irchenbrunn from 1807 and Lichtenberg from 1918 belonged. Hohenzell has been part of the Adelzhausen parish community since the mid-1950s.

On May 1, 1978, Hohenzell was incorporated into Altomünster.
