Location of Stumpfenbach in Bavaria

Stumpfenbach is a village and district of the Altomünster market in the Upper Bavarian district of Dachau . For the district are still the village interpreting Hofen , the hamlet Hohenried and the wastelands Eger and Seng Ried .

Stumpfenbach and its districts are located in the Danube-Isar hill country and thus in the Lower Bavarian hill country, which belongs to the Alpine foothills , one of the main natural areas of Germany .

Stumpfenbach is located directly south of the main town Altomünster and is almost grown together with it. Deutenhofen lies to the southeast, Erlau to the east and Hohenried and Sengenried to the north of Stumpfenbach.

The district road DAH 2 runs from Altomünster to Pipinsried between Hohenried and Sengenried in a southwest-northeast direction . Otherwise all localities are only connected by local roads.

Stumpfenbach is on the Dachau – Altomünster railway line , but no longer has its own stop, and it is located on the eponymous Stumpfenbach, a left tributary of the Zeitlbach .

Chapel of Ortisei

As early as 925 Stumpfenbach was named in the tradition book of the Salzburg bishopric as "Stumphinpah" . With its districts it was an independent municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Aichach . On January 1, 1972, as part of the regional reform in Bavaria, Stumpfenbach and its districts became part of the Upper Bavarian district of Dachau and were incorporated into Altomünster on the same day.

The chapel of Sankt Ulrich and Sankt Leonhard in Stumpfenbach belongs to the Catholic parish of Sankt Alto in Altomünster, as do all the districts of Stumpfenbach.
