history

The church, located on a slight hill in the center of Guttenbach, is the original church of the village, which was reformed in the 16th century and became Catholic again when the Palatinate church was divided in 1707. The current church building was built from 1780, whereby the substructure of the church tower facing east with the tower choir dates back to the 13th century. A sacristy is attached to the tower to the north . During a renovation in the 1960s, the historic painting of the church was destroyed. In 2007 further renovations took place inside the church. The floor of the church was badly damaged by moisture and therefore had to be replaced.

A decorative epitaph for Ludwig von Habern († 1555) has been preserved in the historic church wall surrounding the church . The lords of Habern ruled Guttenbach in the 16th century, and the expansion of the nearby Minneburg goes back to them.
