The UZB - Bets was a steam locomotive of the Hungarian Central Railway (UZB) Austria-Hungary .

The locomotive was supplied by the WRB locomotive factory in 1846. It got the name "BETS" (old Hungarian spelling for Vienna ). Their technical structure followed George Stephenson insofar as the boiler tubes were lengthened compared to the " Patentee " type (cf. for example LEG - Adler und Pfeil , in short: "Adler") so that the high temperature of the heating gases could be better utilized. The disadvantage of this design was an extremely uneven ride due to the large front and rear overhangs. So John Haswell , then head of the WRB locomotive factory, only built this one piece.

When the UZB merged with the kk southeastern state railway (SöStB) in 1850 , the "BETS" was given the operating number 14. When the SöStB was then sold to the Staats-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (StEG) in 1855 , the machine was given the operating number 70. It became Retired in 1865.
