In 1986 the club reached the final of the Coupe de France , which was held for the last time , but lost to AS Béziers . In 1989 he was relegated to the second division.
In 1998, Stade Aurillacois rose again to the top division. During the 1999/2000 season the club was involved in the European Challenge Cup , as well as during the 2000/01 season. In 2001, however, he was relegated to Rugby Pro D2, and in 2006 to Fédérale 1 . Stade Aurillac won the title of French amateur champion in 2007 and secured immediate promotion.
