The Union Sportive Colomiers Rugby is a rugby union club from the French town of Colomiers in the Haute-Garonne department . He is represented in the highest amateur league Fédérale 1 and plays his home games at the Stade Michel-Bendichou . US Colomiers never became French champions, but was already in the final of the Heineken Cup and won the European Challenge Cup .
history
The association was founded in 1915. For many decades the team played in the lower amateur leagues. In 1976 they were promoted to what was then the third division and in 1980 to the second division. In 1988 he was promoted to the highest league. In the 1997/98 season, the team took part in the European Challenge Cup and remained undefeated in the final against SU Agen . In the 1998/99 season Colomiers achieved almost a sensation when they advanced to the final of the Heineken Cup , but then lost to the Irish team Ulster Rugby .
Colomiers celebrated the last great success so far in 2000; the team qualified for the final for the French championship, but lost to the Paris club Stade Français . Colomiers was no longer able to build on these services; The team was relegated to Pro D2 in 2003 and even to the Fédérale 1 amateur league in 2004 . In 2005 she was promoted to the Pro D2 again, but was only able to stay there for two years. After a year in Féderale 1, she was promoted again in 2008. In 2011, the US Colomiers had to relegate back to Fédérale 1 before being promoted again in 2012.
